These are trails designed specifically to teach the geology of the area. Each trail is accompanied by a worksheet. These trails aim to teach geological concepts through real-life examples found on the beaches of Gower! Topics covered include; identifying and describing different rock types and minerals, fossil identification, environmental interpretation, folding, faulting and the Variscan orogeny, geological mapping and geological resources.
These trails are aimed at A-level geology students. They introduce a number of geological concepts and key terms. But anyone with a keen interest in geology can do the trails!
These trails are made using Google MyMaps, they are designed to be followed using your smart phone. Move between stops reading the information about each locality, then complete the questions on the worksheet for each stop you visit. You can download the trails for use offline by following the instructions here.
